When clients ask me about bringing two outfits changes to a session, my answer is always, “Why not both?” Some locations are versatile enough to provide different vibes, and if needed, we can even move between two different locations as long as they’re within about 10 minutes of each other. For instance, I recently had a client torn between a dreamy field session and a relaxed beach shoot. I simply told her, “Let’s do both!” and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. We went to Delray Beach for the jeans fit and drove to a near by grass field for the more “formal” one.
This strategy works especially well for engagement and maternity shoots, where outfit changes add variety and depth to the session. However, it can be trickier with family sessions since little ones may not have the patience for a change of clothes. For couples or solo sessions, I typically recommend one more “formal” outfit and one “casual” look to create a balanced and dynamic gallery.
Here’s a blog with lots of tips on what to wear to a session.
Bringing two outfits to your photoshoot is a simple way to add variety, enhance storytelling, and make the most of your session.
So, if you’re torn between two looks, pack that extra outfit—you’ll thank yourself later!
